Scientists scan brains to see how alcohol hits people with HIV

NCT ID NCT04050735

Summary

This study aimed to understand how drinking alcohol affects brain inflammation and the immune system in people living with HIV. Researchers recruited healthy individuals and people with well-controlled HIV, gave them either an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink, and then took blood samples and brain scans. The goal was to gather information, not to test a treatment, to learn more about the combined effects of HIV and alcohol.
