New surgical trick may improve nose shape after cleft lip repair

NCT ID NCT07624643

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a surgical technique called a dermal roll flap to support the nostril base in 45 people who had a previous cleft lip repair. The flap uses extra skin from the lip to lift and stabilize the nostril on the cleft side. Researchers measured changes in nostril position before and after surgery to see if the technique improved symmetry.
