First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests whether a daily supplement of Akkermansia muciniphila (AKM Lab-01), a type of gut bacteria, can help overweight or obese adults lose weight safely. Two hundred participants will take either the supplement or a placebo for 3 months. Researchers will measure changes in body weight, BMI, blood sugar, and cholesterol to see if the bacteria improve metabolic health.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new, natural supplement to help with weight loss and improve metabolic health.
