New combo inhaler may tame asthma inflammation better than standard rescue puffers
NCT ID NCT06563102
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This completed Phase 4 trial tested whether a combination inhaler (AIRSUPRA, containing albuterol and budesonide) works better than albuterol alone for adults with mild asthma. Over 12 weeks, researchers measured airway inflammation, daily symptoms, and how often participants needed rescue medication. The study enrolled 101 adults and compared the two treatments head-to-head.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Albuterol/budesonide (AIRSUPRA) inhaler
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a combination inhaler reduces airway inflammation and symptom flare-ups better than albuterol alone for people with mild asthma.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed Phase 4 study with only 101 participants. Results may not apply to everyone with mild asthma, and the benefits over standard albuterol may be modest.
