Simple coaching may boost inhaler use in rare lung disease
NCT ID NCT07457762
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether extra guidance from a pharmacist can help people with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) use their inhaled iloprost correctly and consistently. PAH is a rare, serious lung condition that makes it hard to breathe. The trial will enroll 72 adults who already take inhaled iloprost. Half will get standard care, and half will also receive personalized coaching on inhaler technique and sticking to their medication schedule. The goal is to see if this support improves adherence and reduces side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
iloprost (inhaled)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that simple pharmacist support helps PAH patients use their inhaler correctly and stay on treatment, potentially improving their quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (72 people) testing a behavioral intervention, not a new drug. Results may not apply to all PAH patients, and adherence improvements may not translate to better health outcomes.
