Massive study to uncover how air pollution triggers lung cancer in india
NCT ID NCT07553598
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will enroll over 3,200 adults in Delhi and surrounding areas to understand how air pollution, especially fine particles (PM2.5), combines with other factors like smoking and genetics to increase lung cancer risk. Researchers will also look for biomarkers and identify groups most vulnerable, such as children and the elderly. The goal is to create a risk prediction model to guide prevention and policy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this research could lead to better ways to predict who is at highest risk for lung cancer from air pollution and guide prevention strategies.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly test any drug or intervention, and results may take years to influence policy or clinical practice.
