First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested an AI system that uses optical character recognition and large language models to automatically pull key information from medical records of 308 patients with coronary artery disease. The AI extracted 10 clinical details (like lab results) and diagnosed disease subtypes, and its accuracy and speed were compared to seven doctors. The goal was to see if AI can help make heart disease data collection and diagnosis more efficient.
