Your therapist is an app: AI coach tested for mental health

NCT ID NCT05603923

Summary

This study tested whether a voice-based artificial intelligence coach named Lumen could teach problem-solving skills as effectively as a human coach to help adults with mild-to-moderate depression and anxiety. 200 participants were randomly assigned to receive coaching from the AI, a human, or to wait and receive the AI coaching later. The main goal was to see if the AI could help improve emotional well-being by teaching practical skills to manage daily problems.
