AI could predict which stomach cancer patients benefit from Pre-Surgery therapy
NCT ID NCT07401199
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is developing an artificial intelligence (AI) system to predict how well gastric cancer will respond to chemotherapy and immunotherapy given before surgery. Researchers will collect data from 2,000 patients with locally advanced gastric cancer. The AI will analyze standard CT scans and tissue samples to forecast if the tumor will completely disappear after treatment. If accurate, this tool could help doctors choose the best treatment for each patient.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Artificial intelligence system (DeepComp) analyzing CT images and pathology slides
What this could lead to
If successful, this AI tool could help doctors personalize treatment plans for gastric cancer patients, avoiding unnecessary side effects.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study to develop and validate the AI model, not a treatment trial. The AI may not be accurate enough for real-world use, and results are still early.
