Smart Band-Aid reads your pain: AI patch could replace pain scales
NCT ID NCT06994988
First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests a special band-aid (called the A-Band) and a smartwatch that use AI to measure pain in women with chronic pain. About 115 women will wear the patch on their arm for up to 90 minutes at a time over a week, while also wearing a smartwatch and answering pain questionnaires. The goal is to see if the device's readings match how much pain the women say they feel, and to learn what factors affect pain measurement.
