NCT ID NCT07165730
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a 12-week virtual health coaching program powered by artificial intelligence can improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. 206 participants in Indonesia will be randomly assigned to use the DIACOACH app or receive standard diabetes education. The app provides personalized tips, reminders, and feedback on diet, exercise, and medication. Researchers will measure changes in fasting blood sugar and HbA1c levels.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Virtual health coaching via the DIACOACH app, which uses artificial intelligence to provide personalized diet, exercise, and medication reminders.
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a low-cost, scalable digital tool to help people with type 2 diabetes manage their blood sugar better, especially in communities with limited healthcare resources.
- What could go wrong
- This is a relatively small trial in two regions of Indonesia, so results may not apply to other populations. The intervention is behavioral, so improvements may be modest or hard to sustain long-term.
