AI assists in tricky gallbladder procedure
NCT ID NCT06981052
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool designed to help doctors safely drain an infected gallbladder in patients who cannot have surgery. The AI was used during an endoscopic ultrasound procedure to guide placement of a special stent. Researchers compared the AI's recommendations to those of an expert doctor to see how accurate the AI was. The study involved 38 adults and focused on whether the AI could reliably determine if it was safe to drain the gallbladder.
