Doctors test AI's baby weight guesses – will they trust the machine?
NCT ID NCT07401368
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how doctors trust artificial intelligence (AI) when it estimates a baby's weight during pregnancy. Over 300 clinicians will review ultrasound cases and choose between AI-based or traditional weight estimates. Some doctors will also see how reliable the AI is. The goal is to understand how AI and uncertainty affect their decisions and confidence.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help design AI tools that clinicians trust and use effectively to monitor fetal growth during pregnancy.
What could go wrong
This is a questionnaire study, not a clinical trial testing a treatment. Results may not reflect real-world decisions or improve pregnancy outcomes directly.
