AI-Powered ECG could cut unnecessary heart tests
NCT ID NCT07757425
First seen Aug 11, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial is testing whether an artificial intelligence-enhanced electrocardiogram (AI-ECG) can help doctors quickly and safely identify which people with non-cardiac chest pain are truly low risk. Half of the participants will receive the AI-ECG in addition to standard care, while the other half will receive standard care alone. The study aims to see if the AI-ECG can reduce unnecessary tests, lower healthcare costs, and speed up diagnosis and reassurance, without compromising patient safety.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- AI-enhanced electrocardiogram (AI-ECG) as a diagnostic test
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this AI-ECG pathway could reduce unnecessary invasive tests, lower healthcare costs, and provide faster reassurance for many patients with chest pain.
- What could go wrong
- The AI-ECG is still experimental and may not be as accurate in real-world settings. There is also a risk that relying on it could miss some heart problems, and the trial's results may not apply to all populations.
