AI boosts polyp detection in colonoscopy study

NCT ID NCT06160466

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tested whether using artificial intelligence (AI) during colonoscopy helps doctors find more polyps compared to a standard colonoscopy. Over 1,100 people aged 50 to 74 who were due for a follow-up colonoscopy took part. The AI software highlighted suspicious spots in real time to assist the doctor. The main goal was to see if the AI group had a higher rate of detecting adenomas (precancerous polyps).
