AI chatbot could transform how patients learn about surgery risks

Summary

This study tests whether a multilingual AI chatbot called PEAR helps patients understand anesthesia risks better than the usual face-to-face talk with a doctor. About 120 adults having planned surgery will take part. The goal is to see if the chatbot improves understanding and reduces anxiety before surgery.
