First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether an AI chatbot called Suzy can help people recovering from opioid use disorder stay engaged with their care. Over 12 weeks, 55 participants will use the chatbot to prepare for appointments, find community resources, and learn coping techniques. Researchers will measure changes in drug use severity, anxiety, depression, and self-efficacy.

Active substance
chatbot (Suzy)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a low-cost, accessible tool to help people in recovery stay on track and reduce relapse risk.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 55 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The chatbot is not a substitute for medical care and may not work for everyone.
