First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tests a new AI tool that lets primary care doctors screen for diabetic eye disease during regular visits. The goal is to see if this approach helps more patients get the eye follow-up they need, especially among Black and Hispanic groups. About 4,000 adults with diabetes who haven't had an eye exam in the past year will take part. The AI tool is designed to make screening easier and more equal for everyone.
