Can AI help doctors better care for Two-Spirit métis patients?
NCT ID NCT07760675
First seen Aug 12, 2026 · Last updated Aug 13, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether an AI-assisted simulation can help Ob/Gyn residents improve their ability to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed care to Two-Spirit Métis patients. Up to 90 residents across three Canadian universities will be randomly assigned to either a specialized cultural safety workshop or standard training, followed by the same AI-based exam. The goal is to see if this approach is feasible and whether it improves communication and cultural humility.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- AI-assisted Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) with cultural safety training
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could point toward better training methods that help doctors provide more respectful and culturally safe care to Two-Spirit Métis patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small feasibility study, so results may not be conclusive. The AI simulation may not fully capture real-world interactions, and training effects might not last.
