AI coach helps therapists improve ADHD care for minority teens
NCT ID NCT05135065
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether an artificial intelligence tool could help therapists deliver better behavior therapy to minority adolescents with ADHD. Researchers worked with three community mental health agencies and 51 teens. Therapists received either AI-assisted supervision or standard supervision. The goal was to see if the AI tool improved how well therapists followed the therapy plan, not to directly measure patient outcomes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Artificial intelligence-assisted supervision protocol
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this approach could make behavior therapy more consistent and effective for underserved teens with ADHD.
- What could go wrong
- This was a small, early-stage trial (51 participants) that measured therapist fidelity, not patient improvement. The AI tool may not work in all settings or with all therapists.
