First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This research program looks at why people with multiple long-term health problems, like kidney or lung disease, are more likely to have organ damage and slower recovery after heart surgery. Scientists will study heart cells and data from over 3,000 patients to understand the biological changes that make these patients more vulnerable. The goal is to find new drug targets that could protect organs during surgery in the future.
