New RNA drug shows promise in preventing HAE attacks in ongoing study
NCT ID NCT07428499
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study is for people with hereditary angioedema (HAE) who have already completed a previous trial of the drug ADX-324. ADX-324 is an RNA-based medicine designed to lower a protein involved in swelling attacks. The goal is to see if long-term use is safe and can reduce the number of attacks. About 90 participants will receive additional doses of ADX-324 and be monitored for side effects and attack frequency.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- ADX-324 (a type of RNA drug called siRNA that targets prekallikrein)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, ADX-324 could offer a new way to prevent painful swelling attacks in people with hereditary angioedema, reducing attack frequency and improving quality of life.
- What could go wrong
- This is an extension study, so participants already tolerated the drug, but long-term safety and effectiveness are still being checked. HAE attacks may still occur, and the drug may not work for everyone.
