New combo treatment hope for advanced liver cancer patients
NCT ID NCT07157969
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This Phase 2 trial is testing whether adding interventional procedures (like TACE or HAIC) to a combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-VEGF drugs works better than the drugs alone for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. About 300 participants with BCLC stage B or C liver cancer will be enrolled. Researchers will measure how well the tumors shrink and how long patients live without the cancer progressing.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Lenvatinib, Pembrolizumab, Atezolizumab, Bevacizumab, Camrelizumab, Apatinib (drugs); TACE, HAIC (procedures)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a more effective combination treatment for advanced liver cancer, potentially improving tumor shrinkage and survival.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 2 trial, so results are still early and may not confirm benefit. Combining multiple therapies also raises the risk of side effects.
