New tool could slash unnecessary lung clot scans in ERs

NCT ID NCT06320236

First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests a new bedside tool called Adjust-Unlikely to help emergency doctors decide who really needs imaging for pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lungs). The goal is to safely reduce unnecessary scans, which expose patients to radiation and cost time and money. Researchers will enroll 4,000 emergency patients who are being tested for a clot to see if the tool works well without missing dangerous cases.
