New catheter aims to clear stroke clots faster
NCT ID NCT07367100
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new device called the Adaptive Tip Catheter for removing blood clots in people having a severe stroke. About 74 adults will receive the catheter procedure within 24 hours of stroke symptoms. The goal is to see if the device can restore blood flow in the brain with fewer attempts and without needing extra treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Adaptive Tip Catheter (a medical device used to remove blood clots from brain arteries)
What this could lead to
If it works, this catheter could help doctors remove stroke-causing clots more quickly and completely, potentially reducing brain damage and improving recovery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early study with only 74 participants. The device may not work better than existing methods, and there are risks like vessel damage or bleeding during the procedure.
