New radiation technique aims to hit harder, harm less in metastatic cancer
NCT ID NCT05880667
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase I trial tests adaptive stereotactic body radiation (SBRT) for people with cancer that has spread to the abdomen or pelvis. The goal is to safely deliver higher radiation doses to tumors while keeping severe side effects under 10%. Thirty participants will receive this tailored radiation approach to see if it is both feasible and tolerable.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Adaptive stereotactic body radiation (SBRT)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could allow safer, more effective radiation treatment for hard-to-treat metastatic tumors in the abdomen or pelvis.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase I trial with only 30 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The main risk is severe side effects from higher radiation doses.
