Needles in the ER: study tests ancient practice for modern pain

NCT ID NCT04880733

Summary

This study tested whether offering acupuncture is a practical way to help manage pain for adults visiting the emergency department. Researchers compared acupuncture to standard pain care across three hospitals to see if it was feasible to run a larger future trial. They measured pain levels, patient and staff satisfaction, and how well the acupuncture program could be set up in a busy ER.
