Acupressure shows promise for diabetes and anxiety in elderly
NCT ID NCT07356024
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether acupressure, a technique that applies gentle pressure to specific points on the body, can lower blood sugar and reduce anxiety in people aged 65 and older with diabetes. Forty-eight participants will receive either real acupressure or a sham version for 6 days. Researchers will measure fasting and after-meal blood sugar, as well as anxiety levels, to see if the treatment makes a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
acupressure
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help elderly people with diabetes manage their blood sugar and feel less anxious.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 48 participants. The effects may be small or not last long, and acupressure might not work for everyone.
