Can't fully straighten your knee after ACL surgery? it may slow your strength recovery
NCT ID NCT06863610
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looks at 30 people who had ACL reconstruction surgery to see if having a knee extension deficit (not being able to fully straighten the knee) in the early weeks after surgery affects how well their thigh muscles recover strength. Participants are divided into two groups: those with more than 5 degrees of extension loss and those with less. Researchers will measure muscle strength and functional tests like jumping and balancing to find out if the deficit matters.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this study could help physical therapists design better rehab programs for ACL patients by showing how much knee extension loss matters.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small observational study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It measures recovery but does not test a new treatment.
