Beyond the heel: Whole-Leg training may ease achilles tendon pain
NCT ID NCT07730866
First seen Jul 28, 2026 · Last updated Jul 29, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether a rehabilitation program that exercises the entire leg — from foot to hip — can improve balance, reduce pain, and restore function better than standard tendon-focused exercises in people with chronic Achilles tendinopathy. Fifty adults aged 18 to 45 with persistent symptoms will be randomly assigned to either the full-leg program or conventional rehab. Researchers will measure stability, pain, ankle motion, and daily function before and after treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- a lower-extremity kinetic chain exercise program
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a more effective rehabilitation approach for chronic Achilles tendinopathy that addresses whole-leg movement patterns.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Exercise programs also depend heavily on adherence and individual response.
