Blood pressure breakthrough: new trial aims to extend pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia

NCT ID NCT05676476

First seen Dec 12, 2025 · Last updated Jun 08, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether carefully lowering blood pressure in pregnant women with preeclampsia or gestational hypertension can help them stay pregnant longer, reducing risks for both mother and baby. About 132 women between 23 and 35 weeks pregnant will be randomly assigned to either tight blood pressure control or standard care. The goal is to see if this approach safely adds days to the pregnancy and improves newborn health.
