Summary

This study tested a daily dietary supplement called ACEMg (Soundbites) in 64 adults with hearing loss or tinnitus. Participants took the supplement for 24 weeks and completed hearing tests and symptom surveys at home using a smartphone app. The goal was to see if the supplement could preserve or improve hearing and reduce tinnitus and sound sensitivity. The study was completed and results are being analyzed.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

ACEMg (Soundbites) - a dietary supplement softgel

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple daily supplement to help preserve hearing and reduce tinnitus and sound sensitivity for people with common hearing loss.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study without a placebo group, so results may be due to chance or natural variation. The supplement is not a cure and may not help everyone.
