NCT ID NCT07424690

First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at two common treatments for atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) in people aged 78 and older. One treatment is a procedure called catheter ablation, which uses heat to fix the heart's electrical signals. The other is medication to control heart rate or rhythm. The goal is to see which approach leads to fewer serious health problems like stroke or heart failure, and which helps people feel better day-to-day. About 282 participants will wear a small heart monitor to track their heart rhythm for two years.
