New implant could make dialysis easier for kidney patients

Summary
This study tested a special collagen implant that slowly releases a drug called sirolimus. It was placed around a new blood vessel connection (fistula) during surgery in 136 people aged 65+ with kidney failure on dialysis. The goal was to see if the implant helps the fistula mature faster and work better for dialysis, reducing complications.
