New hope for genetic ALS? old drug gets first human test

NCT ID NCT07204977

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called acamprosate is safe and might help slow the progression of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in people who have a specific genetic change (C9orf72 mutation). It involves 30 participants who will take the drug for 24 weeks while researchers monitor their health and symptoms. The main goal is to check for side effects, but researchers will also look for any signs that the drug might help control the disease.
