Baby belly rubs may boost jaundice treatment
NCT ID NCT07388732
First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looked at whether gentle abdominal massage can help newborns with jaundice who are already receiving light therapy (phototherapy). The idea is that massage might increase bowel movements, helping the body get rid of bilirubin faster. 35 full-term babies were split into three groups: one received massage once a day, another twice a day, and a control group received standard care. Researchers measured bilirubin levels and how often the babies pooped.
