Blood boost after ICU: could transfusions end exhaustion?
NCT ID NCT04591574
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving more blood transfusions to anemic patients after they leave the intensive care unit (ICU) can help them feel less tired and improve their quality of life. About 346 adults who are ready to leave the ICU and have low hemoglobin will be randomly assigned to either the usual care or a more active transfusion plan. The goal is to see if the extra transfusions help with physical recovery and reduce fatigue over the next six months.
