First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving blood transfusions to anemic patients after they leave the intensive care unit (ICU) can help them feel less tired and recover better. About 346 adults who are ready to leave the ICU and have low hemoglobin will be randomly assigned to either standard care or more frequent transfusions. The goal is to see if this approach improves quality of life and physical function over six months.
