New scan could spot hidden tumors in rare diseases
NCT ID NCT07379463
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether a special PET/CT scan using an amino acid tracer can better detect tumors in people with amino acid transport disorders, primary hyperparathyroidism, or glioma. About 500 adults will receive a single injection of the tracer and then get scanned. The goal is to see how well the scan identifies tumors and their spread, which could help doctors make more accurate diagnoses.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- 11C/18F-MET/FET (a radioactive tracer injected for PET/CT imaging)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide a more accurate way to diagnose and monitor tumors related to amino acid transport disorders, improving treatment planning.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early imaging study, not a treatment trial. The new scan may not prove more accurate than existing methods, and results may not apply to all patients.
