New PET scan could spare breast cancer patients unnecessary surgery
NCT ID NCT06559371
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special PET/CT scan (68Ga-FAPI) can accurately tell if breast cancer remains in the armpit lymph nodes after chemotherapy. About 150 women who have finished at least 3 rounds of treatment will get the scan before surgery. If the scan works well, it may help doctors decide if surgery is needed, reducing unnecessary procedures.
