Could a serotonin receptor help us understand multiple sclerosis?

NCT ID NCT05746845

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a serotonin receptor called 5-HT7 could serve as a biomarker for multiple sclerosis (MS). Researchers measured the receptor on immune cells in blood samples from 100 people, including healthy volunteers and MS patients on stable treatment. The goal was to better understand the role of serotonin in MS inflammation, not to test a new treatment.
