3D ultrasound could help surgeons remove skin cancer in one go

NCT ID NCT07402616

First seen Feb 13, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special 3D ultrasound scan of removed skin cancer tissue can accurately measure if the cancer was fully removed. About 30 adults with a common skin cancer will have their tumor scanned after surgery, and the results will be compared to standard lab tests. If successful, this method could help surgeons know immediately if more tissue needs to be removed, reducing the need for follow-up surgeries.
