3D lung models could help patients choose the right surgery
NCT ID NCT07686549
First seen Jul 07, 2026 · Last updated Jul 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether using a personalized 3D lung model during preoperative consultations helps patients better understand their lung surgery options and feel more involved in decision-making. Adults scheduled for thoracoscopic lung resection for suspected or confirmed lung tumors will receive either standard consultation or one supported by a 3D model of their own lungs. The study measures how much patients feel they shared in the decision, their anxiety, knowledge, and satisfaction.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- 3D lung model and reconstruction
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this approach could help patients better understand their surgery and feel more involved in decisions.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, single-center study, so results may not apply to all hospitals. The 3D model may not improve decision-making more than standard consultation.
