Myeloid leukemia
MONDO:0004643A clonal proliferation of myeloid cells and their precursors in the bone marrow, peripheral blood, and spleen. When the proliferating cells are immature myeloid cells and myeloblasts, it is called acute myeloid leukemia. When the proliferating myeloid cells are neutrophils, it is called chronic myelogenous leukemia.
Also known as: leukaemia granulocytic, leukaemia myeloid, leukemia granulocytic, leukemia myelogenous, leukemia myeloid, leukemia, granulocytic, malignant, myelocytic leukaemia, myelocytic leukemia

Could removing certain immune cells prevent a deadly transplant complication?
Disease control OngoingThis study tests whether removing a specific type of immune cell (naive T cells) from donor stem cells can prevent chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in children and young adults with blood cancers. GVHD occurs when donor cells attack the patient's body after a stem cell tr…

Lower drug dose after transplant may cut infections without losing protection
Disease control OngoingThis study tests whether a lower dose of the drug cyclophosphamide, given after a stem cell transplant from a partially matched donor, can reduce serious infections in the first 100 days while still preventing graft-versus-host disease (a common complication where donor cells att…

New CML drug combo strategy aims for deeper remission without lifelong side effects
Disease control OngoingThis study tests a new drug, asciminib, as the first treatment for adults newly diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). If the drug alone does not achieve a deep response within 2 to 3 years, a low dose of another targeted therapy is added. The goal is to see if this appro…

New hope for blood cancer patients: using mismatched donors for transplants
Disease control OngoingThis study tests a stem cell transplant using donors who are not a perfect match for patients with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma. Doctors give special drugs after the transplant to help prevent the donor cells from attacking the patient's body. The goal is to see if th…

Can radiation spark an immune attack on leukemia?
Knowledge-focused OngoingThis early-phase study looks at how the immune system responds to leukemia tumors after low-dose radiation given as part of standard care. Ten adults with new or recurrent myeloid leukemia will have their immune responses measured. The goal is to learn whether adding immunotherap…

New tool aims to improve care for older cancer patients
Knowledge-focused OngoingThis pilot study tests a new assessment tool called IA3-CP for cancer patients aged 65 and older. The tool gathers information on aging-related issues, mental health, health behaviors, and social factors to help doctors provide better, more personalized care. 35 participants are …
