Summary

This phase 1 study investigates whether ZT002 (zovaglutide), an experimental injectable drug given every two weeks, affects the heart's electrical activity in overweight or obese adults. Researchers compare changes in the QT interval—a measure of heart rhythm—between those receiving ZT002 and those receiving a placebo. The trial enrolls about 40 healthy participants aged 18 to 45 with a BMI between 24 and 35.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Zovaglutide (ZT002 injection)
What this could lead to
If safe, this could support further development of ZT002 as a weight-management treatment.
What could go wrong
This is an early, small phase 1 safety study focused on heart effects, not weight loss. It may not show any benefit or could reveal heart risks.
