Summary

This pilot study tests a smartphone app called YOUCA, designed to give parents practical guidance and strategies for supporting children aged 10-17 who are facing mental health difficulties. About 25 parents will use the app for four weeks and complete questionnaires to see if it improves their parenting skills and confidence. The study also gathers feedback from parents and experts to refine the app for future, larger trials.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
YOUCA app (a smartphone application providing information, guidance, tips, and support resources for parents)
What this could lead to
If the app proves helpful, it could offer a widely accessible tool to empower parents and improve support for children's mental health.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 25 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The app is a prototype, and its effectiveness is still uncertain.
