First human test of experimental pill XH-S004 begins in healthy volunteers
NCT ID NCT06236841
First seen Sep 14, 2026 · Last updated Sep 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Researchers are running a phase 1 trial of XH-S004, an experimental oral tablet, in healthy adults aged 18 to 45. The study gives single and multiple rising doses, plus doses with food, to see how the body handles the drug and whether it causes side effects. Participants receive either XH-S004 or a placebo, and the team tracks adverse events, lab changes, and drug levels in the blood.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- an experimental oral tablet called XH-S004
- What this could lead to
- If XH-S004 proves safe and behaves predictably in the body, it could move into later trials that test whether it helps people with a specific disease.
- What could go wrong
- This is a first-in-human phase 1 study in healthy volunteers, so researchers are mainly checking safety and dosing. Most drugs at this stage do not advance, and side effects or poor drug levels could stop development.
