WeightWatchers and GLP-1 drugs: a new combo for weight loss?
NCT ID NCT06034457
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a 24-week program that combines WeightWatchers behavioral coaching with prescription GLP-1 medications like Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Zepbound. 180 adults with obesity or weight-related conditions participated. Researchers measured weight loss and related outcomes at 12 and 24 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- GLP-1 medications (Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Zepbound)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this program could offer a structured way to achieve significant weight loss using GLP-1 drugs alongside behavioral support.
- What could go wrong
- This was a small, single-arm study without a comparison group, so results may not be generalizable. GLP-1 medications can cause side effects like nausea and require ongoing use to maintain weight loss.
