Could your genes decide when you get a mammogram? huge study says yes
NCT ID NCT02620852
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study compares two ways of screening for breast cancer: the usual annual mammogram versus a personalized schedule based on each woman's personal risk. Researchers will use family history, genetics, and breast density to tailor screening frequency. The goal is to see if personalized screening catches cancers just as well while reducing false alarms and unnecessary biopsies. Women ages 30-74 in the US can join and choose which group they prefer.
