Not a trial. This treatment can be requested outside a study, case by case, for people who qualify.
Expanded access (paused)
Not a trial. The treatment can normally be requested outside a study, but is unavailable right now.
Expanded access (ended)
Not a trial. The treatment could once be requested outside a study, but no longer can.

Summary

This trial tests whether replacing part of a standard rehabilitation session with Wii Fit or Pilates exercises improves walking, balance, and leg strength in adults with healed lower-limb burns. Participants receive 60-minute supervised sessions three times a week for 12 weeks, split between the assigned exercise type and conventional rehabilitation. Researchers measure walking distance, postural stability, and muscle performance at the start, after 12 weeks, and 12 weeks later to see if any gains last.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
supervised rehabilitation sessions using Wii Fit video games or Pilates exercises
What this could lead to
If either approach helps, burn rehabilitation programs could add game-based or Pilates training to improve walking and balance. This may give patients more engaging options during recovery.
What could go wrong
The trial is small and early, so results may not apply to all burn patients. Video game or Pilates exercises might not outperform standard rehabilitation, and participants could find the routines difficult or unmotivating.
